As the spread of COVID-19 continues in various locations in California and throughout the country, we are stepping up our precautions to protect patients and staff. Here are some specific steps we are taking:
1.Cleaning Protocols: Our office cleaning service is making sure to disinfect all high touch areas, such as waiting room chairs (armrests and seats), doorknobs, and window counters, on a daily basis. All exam rooms are already being disinfected by our technicians, per protocol.
As you know, we have put signs up at our entrances to caution our patients who are experiencing respiratory illness from entering our office. We are also adjusting our patient call reminders to add this word of caution as well.
We also advise staff who experience flu-like symptoms to not come to the office until checked out by a physician.
In addition, all staff should adhere to the following protocols:
Wash hands frequently with soap and water for at least 20 seconds.
Use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer when soap and water are not available.
Cover coughs and sneezes using a tissue or the crook of an elbow; wash hands after using a tissue to wipe the nose or mouth.
Avoid touching eyes, nose, or mouth with unwashed hands
Communication: Our doctors are monitoring the situation and closely following updates and guidelines from local, state, and national health officials around the area. We will continue to keep everyone updated on this dynamic situation. You are encouraged to monitor the World Health Organization, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and the California Department of Public Health to learn the most accurate information about COVID-19.
Thank you for your cooperation as we address this challenge together.
